Natasha Tonic Shines Spotlight on Endangered Coral Reefs with Collection Debut at Paraiso Miami Swim Week 2023

Natasha Tonic, the renowned swimwear designer celebrated for her unwavering dedication to sustainability through her innovative plant-based swimwear creations, recently unveiled her latest collection, "Coral City," at Paraiso Miami Swim Week on June 11, 2023. In collaboration with Coral Morphologic, a pioneering organization in the study and conservation of coral reefs based in Miami, Tonic's coral-inspired swimwear aimed to raise awareness about the global threats faced by coral reefs.

The captivating "Coral City" collection featured a range of one-piece swimsuits and bikinis adorned with intricate coral prints and textures, drawing inspiration from Coral Morphologic's scientific research. Each garment showcased the beauty and intricacy of coral reefs, with prints derived from real corals grown in Coral Morphologic's lab. The dominant colors of electric green, coral orange, white coral, and Pacific blue were chosen to replicate the vibrant and endangered corals found in Miami's coastal reefs. To further minimize environmental impact, Natasha incorporated breathable hemp fabric, sourced from natural and plant-based materials, into every piece she created.

To complement the swimwear, Tonic introduced her new jewelry line in collaboration with designer Tiffany Kunz. The exquisite pieces from the jewelry collection were intricately crafted and inspired by ocean reefs, featuring hand-sculpted coral forms and delicate pearls that captured the essence of the sea. Each look from the swimwear collection was paired with these elegant accessories, creating a cohesive and ocean-inspired aesthetic. Additionally, Tonic unveiled a selection of lightweight shrugs and long gloves, which added a modern touch to the collection while providing natural protection against harmful sun rays.

Demonstrating her commitment to coral reef conservation, Tonic pledged to donate 10% of the collection's proceeds to Coral Morphologic and another 10% to Ocean Gardener, an Indonesian non-profit organization that specializes in reef restoration techniques free from the use of plastics. Going a step further, Natasha is collaborating with Ocean Gardener to plant one coral for every swimsuit sold, thus breathing new life into these delicate ecosystems. Furthermore, in alignment with the cause, Tiffany Kunz will donate 10% of her jewelry collection proceeds to non-profit organizations in Costa Rica that focus on relocating recovered corals to their natural habitats. This collaboration emphasizes the importance of protecting coral reefs and their ecosystems, fostering a symbiotic relationship between fashion and the environment.

"We are thrilled to partner with Coral Morphologic and Ocean Gardener to raise awareness and educate communities about the vital significance of coral reef conservation, particularly for our oceans and waterside cities like Miami," stated Natasha Tonic. "Through this collection, our primary goal was to showcase the exquisite beauty of these vibrant ecosystems and inspire individuals to take action in their protection," she added.

The "Coral City" runway show at Paraiso Miami Swim Week 2023 was a resounding success, receiving high praise from both fashion insiders and environmental experts. The collection's lively prints, striking colors, and innovative designs captivated the attention of the fashion industry. Notably, Natasha's commitment to sustainability has led to her being recognized as Sports Illustrated's 2023 Sustainable Swimsuit Designer of the Year.
